Lease Security
Most leases will normally have Security of Tenure under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. This means that tenants are entitled to a new lease for the occupied premises under the same terms as the existing lease. Landlords have limited grounds for opposing the grant of a new lease.
At the end of a lease, the tenant may wish to remain in the premises and can either hold over on their existing terms or the Landlord or Tenant can serve a Notice either ending the tenancy or requesting a new one.
